Our EV Industry Alliances

Creating happy EV drivers is our top priority at Edison EV. In a new industry using new technology, that’s no small task. That’s why we’ve entered into unique alliances with most of the major auto makers, charging equipment manufacturers and electric utilities. By working together, we can make driving and charging an EV safe, convenient, economical and fun.

AUTOMAKER ALLIANCES

Startup costs in this industry are reasonable. It is possible to start a vending machine route for less than a few thousand dollars. The work of a Vending machines business operator can be divided into two basic areas. As a vending machine business owner you can choose to work by yourself, with a partner or hire teams to work for you

Your EV won’t run (at least for very long) unless you have charging equipment installed; because of this, even though the charging equipment is located on a wall in your garage, it really is part of the automotive "system" and auto makers won't deliver your vehicle before the charger is installed. Edison EV has partnered with auto makers to ensure that this system operates smoothly, providing you with functioning charging equipment before your vehicle arrives.

General Motors EV SiteGeneral Motors Corporation

Edison EV’s first alliance was with General Motors, the first major auto maker to introduce electric vehicles into the market. Edison EV is the authorized provider and installer of charging equipment for the EV1 and the Chevy S-10 Electric. GM, in partnership with Edison EV, has multiple funding programs aimed at creating a network of hundreds of public and workplace inductive charging stations.

Honda EV PLUSAmerican Honda Motor Company

Honda and Edison EV formed an alliance in early 1997 naming Edison EV the preferred provider and installer of conductive charging technology for the Honda EV PLUS, available only in California. Edison EV also manages a Honda and Ford charging incentive program, providing funds for select public and workplace charging sites.

Toyota Motor Sales

In December of 1997, Toyota selected Edison EV as its preferred infrastructure provider and installer. Toyota offers the RAV4-EV to fleet buyers throughout the US.

Ford Motor Company

In Edison EV’s most recent alliance, Ford named Edison EV one of its first recognized installers for charging equipment for the Ranger EV. Edison EV also manages a Ford and Honda charging incentive program, providing funds for select public and workplace charging sites.

Edison EV plans to form alliances with other major auto makers as they introduce their EVs into the marketplace.

CHARGING EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS

No matter what type of EV you drive, Edison EV can supply the equipment needed to charge it. Electric vehicles use either conductive charging (transferring electricity through metal-to-metal contacts) or inductive charging (transferring electricity magnetically through a plastic paddle).

General Motors Advanced Technology Vechicles

Edison EV has also formed an alliance with GMATV to distribute the Magne Charge™ inductive charging equipment in California and Arizona. Meeting all safety standards, Magne Charge is simple and easy to use – just insert the standard size paddle into any inductive vehicle.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

Edison EV is the North American distributor of EVI’s conductive charging technology. Easy to use, EVI’s ICS 200 charging equipment can easily be upgraded as the industry changes, so customers don’t have to worry about being stuck with obsolete technology.

ELECTRIC UTILITIES

Edison EV has formed alliances with local utility companies. These alliances help smooth the process for the installation of home chargers and assist in locating progressive companies interested in hosting public charging sites. We can also better help you apply for discounted EV rates, available at night from many of our utility partners.
