Home Charging Installations - What We Do to Make it Easy

When it’s time to install your charging system, we don’t want you to make costly mistakes that can easily be avoided. We’ve been there, and we can guide you around the pitfalls.

As a part of our commitment to making your investment a wise one, we’ve prepared these guidelines to help you make your decision about where to install your charger.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL A CHARGING SYSTEM

Startup costs in this industry are reasonable. It is possible to start a vending machine route for less than a few thousand dollars. The work of a Vending machines business operator can be divided into two basic areas. As a vending machine business owner you can choose to work by yourself, with a partner or hire teams to work for you

Typical home charging installation costs can vary widely, depending on the unique particulars of your home. That means that it’s critical to screen your installation area very carefully before you begin.

The Four Key Considerations that Affect Your Installation Costs:

Consideration #1 - Power Type and Availability

  • Today’s EV charging hardware requires a dedicated 240-volt 40-amp circuit. This is comparable to your air conditioner circuit.

Consideration #2 - Power Panel Capacity

  • There must be room for a new 40-amp circuit breaker in your existing circuit breaker box or you will need a panel upgrade.
  • Edison EV will install a dedicated EV circuit and, if necessary, an additional electrical panel.

Consideration #3 - Conduit/Wire Routing

  • Simply put, the closer the power is to the charging site, the cheaper it is to install. Running power through an external conduit is the least costly way to go, if you can. A conduit will cost a lot less than an installation that requires running wires inside or through a wall, for example. Edison EV can help you pick the best location for your convenience and price.

Residential Charging System Consideration #4 - The Charging System’s Location

  • Your charging unit should be situated so it’s easy to get at, but also along the most direct path from the power source. If you have room in your garage, we recommend a wall-mounted charging unit. Weatherproof floor-mounted charging systems are available for outdoor installations. And if you need a charging unit that can be moved from place to place, that can be arranged as well.

Edison EV will help you evaluate your unique situation and recommend the best option for you.
